River Permits

4 Rivers Lottery: Middle Fork, Main Salmon, Selway, Snake-Hells Canyon (ID)

A yearly lottery is run for permits to run the Main Salmon, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Selway, or the Snake through Hells Canyon.

Alsek & Tatshenshini Rivers (Alaska & BC Canada)

Permits for these two wild Alaskan rivers are issued using a waitlist. Visit the site for instructions on how to add your name to the list.

Desolation Canyon, Green River (UT)

Permits are generally offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Grand Canyon (AZ)

The most famous of all river trips. Permits are issued using a weighted lottery system.

Green & Yampa Rivers (UT)

Permits are available from a lottery and first come first serve to run the Green and Yampa Rivers through Dinosaur National Monument.

Rogue River (OR)

Permits are required between May 15th and October 15th to run the Wild and Scenic stretch of the Rogue River between Grave Creek and Foster Bar.

San Juan River (UT)

A permit is required to floatany section of the San Juan River between Montezuma Creek and ClayHills. From Nov. 1 to the last day of Feb. the permit is free. From March 1- Oct. 31 there is a fee for the permit.
